How to Make
- To make one alphabet square, start by painting a wooden letter in a plain colour then leave it to dry.
- Make your Fimo models on a glazed tile or on a piece of baking parchment. This way the pieces can easily be transferred onto a baking tray without lifting up the clay. Use a modelling tool to cut off 2 strips from a block of Fimo Kids clay to make a basic shape for a model. Smooth the Fimo with your fingers or use a modelling tool to help shape it.
- Add more Fimo details in other colours to finish the model. Keep your fingers clean with wet wipes. The overall size should be about 4cm x 4cm. Make it as a raised relief with a flat back, rather than a fully 3D model so it won't be too heavy.
- Bake Fimo at 100C for 30 minutes in in a preheated oven, following instructions on the packet. Leave Fimo to cool before handling.
- To decorate the alphabet letter, add some simple patterns or details using a small paintbrush or Deco Pens. Leave to dry.
- For the backgrounds, stick a 14cm x 14cm square of plain coloured card onto a 16cm x16cm square of Rainbow Card. Use a glue stick or double-sided tape so the card doesn't crinkle.
- Spread strong glue over the back of the alphabet letter and Fimo model. Allow the glue to dry for a minute or so, then stick the letter into the middle of the background, with the FImo model positioned on top.
- Leave to dry thoroughly before fixing the completed frieze onto the wall with strong self-adhesive sticky pads or use pins to attach the squares onto a pinboard.
