How to Make

  1. Break off a large piece of white clay and divide up into evenly sized balls - they can be roughly rolled at this stage so don't worry about making them perfectly smooth. These will be your beads. Take one bead and dot colour around it with a coloured Deco Pen. You'll want to push down hard on the nib to create a blob of paint. Squash and roll the clay, spreading the colour within it, which will create the marbled effect. Depending on how bright you'd like the colour to be, add more paint.
  2. Smooth the ball so you're happy with the shape, then leave it to dry (you'll want to leave it for approximately 30 minutes). In the meantime, colour the rest of your beads in the same way.
  3. Pierce the beads gently with a skewer, revolving them on the stick to make a clean hole and then carefully removing them. Leave them until they are completely dry, then feed onto thread to create your necklace, tying or adding a clasp to secure.
