Handprint Sealife Puppets

How to Make

1. Paint the palm of your hand with ready mixed paint in any colour of your choice. Alternatively you can pour paint onto a paper plate and press your hand into it.
2. Whilst the paint is still wet, press your painted hand down onto a sheet of A4 pastel coloured card to print your handprint. Leave to dry.
3. Take 2 natural wooden craft sticks and glue two ends together using super tacky glue to make a longer craft stick. Leave to dry. When dry, paint the sticks with acrylic paint that matches the colour of your jellyfish. Leave to dry.
4. When your handprint is dry, carefully cut it out from the card.
5. Turn your handprint so your palm is at the top and fingers below.
6. Take a sheet of tissue paper in any colour you like and cut it into strips to make the floaty jellyfish tentacles.
7. Stick these strips onto the back of the jellyfish at the bottom using super tacky glue so that the tissue strips hang freely below. Leave to dry.
8. Stick on 2 jumbo wiggle eyes to the head of the jellyfish.
9. Draw a mouth using fine tip deco pens or a normal black pen.
10. Decorate the jellyfish with gems, glitter pens or coloured pens, anything you like!
11. Stick the painted craft stick onto the back of the jellyfish using clear sticky tape, leaving enough room to hold the stick and for you to write your name onto the stick.
12. Write your name downwards on the natural craft stick using a deco pen. Leave to dry.

4. When dry, cut out your printed handprint from the pastel coloured card.
5. Turn your handprint on its side so your fingers make the fish tail and your palm makes the head.
6. Draw a heart shape with a pencil onto the same sheet of pastel coloured card. This will be for the mouth of the fish. Cut out the heart shape and stick it using a glue stick to the front of the fish’s face with the top of the heart making the lips shape.
7. Stick on 1 jumbo wiggle eye to the head of the fish.
8. In the middle of the fish draw on a triangular fin using deco pens or fibre pens.
9. Draw a mouth using fine tip deco pens or a normal black pen.
10. Decorate the fish with gems, glitter pens or coloured pens, anything you like!
11. Stick the painted craft stick onto the back of the fish using clear sticky tape, leaving enough room to hold the stick and for you to write your name onto the stick.
12. Write your name downwards on the natural craft stick using a deco pen. Leave to dry.
